“For me, yoga’s always been that accessible exercise that keeps me grounded and focused. It’s also really helpful for dealing with stress. I had some issues with my heart and found that the breathing exercises in yoga correct my rhythm. Yogatown keeps me happy.”

“The owners, Paula Munroe and Tracy Billows, opened in December 2008 as a Moksha studio; a chain. In May 2013 we branched off as Yogatown. Yogatown has a volunteer program called the Energy Exchange Program; it’s another way we can give back to the community. I started in the Energy Exchange program and worked in that for two years and eventually worked my way up into the General Manager role. The program is great for people who can’t afford a membership. They can volunteer three hours a week and get unlimited, free yoga in exchange.”

“Every Friday night, we do Karma classes. They're donation-based classes and 100 per cent of the proceeds go to community fundraising initiatives.”

“On weekdays we run classes from 6 a.m. all the way to 9 or 9:30 at night. On weekends, we have classes from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. We have a lot of different styles of classes now and it’s always hot yoga. Whether you need to get a good stretch, want a challenging workout, or if you just want a basic yoga class, this is the place. Our boutique offers a lot of Canadian-made and designed clothing.”
