Things to do on Preston Street


Despite what the calendar may say, the surest sign of spring in Ottawa is when over a million tulips poke their pretty heads out of the ground. In 2016, the annual Canadian Tulip Festival runs May 12 - 23. Start your adventure at this year’s new hotspot: Lansdowne’s Aberdeen Pavilion, home to the Friendship Stage and the indoor tulip and sculpture garden. From there, it’s a nice walk or short bike ride to Commissioners Park aka Tulip Central where you’ll find loads of activities including the largest concentration of tulips in the city as well as buskers, musicians, artists and more. Once you’ve had your fill of the festivities, hop on a horse-drawn wagon for free rides each weekend day of the Festival to to travel along Preston Street. Hop off between Dow’s Lake and Somerset and find a comfortable spot to relax with fabulous food and drink while you edit and post all the photos you’ve snapped at Tulip Fest. Find the schedule at:
